The Foundation for Educational Services (FES) is seeking a number of part-time Playworkers to join the Foundation on a definite contract for the Skolasajf 2016 programme starting from the 13th July up till the 7th of September 2016. Skolasajf is a summer programme for school-age children (3 to 16 years). There is a planned programme of activities where children take part in educational and fun play activities.
The Playworker will be expected to prepare and implement a variety of appropriate play opportunities including sports, games, crafts and learning activities for children some of whom may require special attention and/or originate from diverse cultural and religious backgrounds. S/he will be responsible for ensuring the safety of children at the centre as well as maintaining positive relationships with service users. In general, the Playworkers are to provide support / assistance in the day to day operation of the Skolasajf Programme and to undertake face to face work with the children in delivering programmes of activities.
Skolasajf Playworkers will be paid at the rate of €5.80 per hour. In addition, the Officer shall receive any bonuses and any other benefits which s/he is entitled to in terms of law on a pro-rata basis. The opening core hours of the service are between 8:30am till 12:30pm whilst the non-core hours are from 7am-8.30am and 12.30pm-5.30pm. Playworkers will work on a roster basis in line with the service exigencies.
Eligibility Criteria
- ‘A’ Level standard (Level 4) of education is required.
- MCAST or Higher Education students are also eligible to apply (those not holding an A Level certificate need to upload proof that they are registered and currently attend MCAST or Higher Education Institution);
- Applicants must be able to communicate in both Maltese and English;
- Experience in working with children will be considered an asset for this position;
- Applicants need to be 18 years of age or older (by the 12th July 2016) to be eligible to apply for this post.
